Learning Bach’s Invention No. 1 – A Gradual Approach 🎼Johnny JAM🎸

Bach’s Invention No. 1 is one of the most well-known pieces in the Two-Part Inventions, but learning it as an adult beginner is a challenge! This piece is a brilliant exercise in counterpoint, requiring hand independence, articulation control, and musical phrasing.

My Step-by-Step Practice Approach

I’ve been learning bit by bit, breaking the piece down into smaller sections and working through it slowly. Here’s how I’m practicing:

  • Hands Separately First: Mastering each hand independently before combining.
  • Slow & Steady Tempo: Prioritizing accuracy over speed.
  • Analyzing the Structure: Understanding Bach’s counterpoint techniques.
  • Gradual Progression: Improving small details with each session.

This is a continuous learning journey, but I’m enjoying every step! If you’re also learning Bach’s Invention No. 1, let me know how your progress is going!
