Creating a Song as a Beginner – Finger Drum Beat + Piano Improv ♫🎹

As part of my music learning journey, I’ve started exploring songwriting from scratch. This session was all about combining beat-making with piano improvisation. I used finger drumming on my DAW to create a simple rhythm, and from there, I began playing around with piano chords and melodies.

It’s a great way to understand how musical parts come together — especially as a beginner. I’m learning to think in terms of rhythm, harmony, and melody all at once. By experimenting with chord shapes and different voicings, I’m also training my ear and learning how to make musical decisions in real-time.

Practices like these are helping me build confidence and fluency on the piano while getting more comfortable creating original music. Even small progress feels rewarding!
